THE LODGE LANE LUNCH
The Lodge Lane Lunch was championed by young people from the Liverpool 8 based DCLM Project in partnership with local Housing Associations LMH, LHT, Plus Dane and Cosmopolitan Housing. Inspired by the national event The Big Lunch with some local influences the purpose of the Lodge Lane Lunch is to bring the community together to eat with their neighbours, rediscover and develop friendships and remind people about the many positive and exacting things about living/working in the Toxteth area. The event also provides a platform to raise awareness among the community about businesses and services available to them in the local area breaking down any barriers that may exist to engagement. As well as delicious food and good company, the event included many fun activities for all the family like a giant bouncy castle and football goal that seemed to be the main attractions for the children and young people in 2011 along with the dancing competitions that had participants from four different generations. Over 400 people attended and enjoyed the Lodge Lane Lunch in 2011 and the event was commended on BBC Radio Merseyside on the Roger Phillips show. Due to this success and popular demand the event will be held on an annual basis and everybody is welcome to come and have some fun ! The success of the Lodge Lane Lunch in 2011 was once again experienced in 2012 as you can see from the video clip below. This event was hosted again in 2013 and will be again in 2014.
